Oak Grove Lutheran School celebrates 100 year accreditation in North Dakota
FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) — For over 100 years, Oak Grove Lutheran School of Fargo has been serving students in preschool through the 12th grade. And this year marks a milestone for both staff and students, as they celebrate history.
“We’ve always kind of tried to let them know we have a long history here. It goes all the way back to 1906. And that we’re just all a part of this big long history,” said John Conant, English Teacher at Oak Grove.
Oak Grove Lutheran School opened its doors in 1906 as the Oak Grove Lutheran Ladies Seminary, a high school for girls. Then, in 1926, Oak Grove expanded its student body, accepting boys into the school. And in March of that year, Oak Grove received its accreditation from the North Dakota Department of Education.
“It’s an amazing experience, and this has been my home since preschool. And I’m happy knowing that we’re such a strong faith-based and our education has always remained strong. And I’m very proud to be a Grover,” said Aspyn Kjos, Student Body President at Oak Grove.
Kjos is a senior at Oak Grove and a second-generation student. Her father had attended the school back in the nineties, and now she is continuing down that same path.
“Knowing that he went here and that Oak Grove was here way before him and knowing how he loved Oak Grove so much that he wanted me to go to this place, shows how trustworthy and strong our education truly is,” said Kjos.
Oak Grove Lutheran School is one of the only private schools in both North Dakota and South Dakota that has received this accreditation.
