First floor of apartment building sustains smoke damage after kitchen fire in unit

FARGO — Fargo fire and police departments responded to a report of black smoke coming from an apartment unit at 1204 44TH ST S., in Fargo.
The call came in just after 2 p.m. and at least four fire trucks arrived on the scene.
According to the Fargo Fire Department, crews found a fire in the kitchen of a first floor unit and they were able to put out the fire within fifteen minutes.
The fire was contained to the one unit, but other units on the first floor may have received smoke damage.
The fire department says one person was in the unit when the fire started. No injuries have been reported at this time.
An estimate of the damage caused by the fire has yet to be determined.
