Highway Patrol fines driver going 150 mph near Minot

MINOT, N.D. (KVRR) – The North Dakota Highway Patrol says a driver was stopped for traveling 150 mph in a 70 mph zone on US Highway 83 near mile marker 209, north of Minot.

The driver was fined $420.00 for speeding and assessed 15 points on their North Dakota driver’s license.

A driver’s license suspension occurs when a driver accumulates 12 or more points on their driving record. Driving privileges are suspended for 7 days of each point over 11.

“Driving at this speed puts not only the driver at risk, but every other motorist on the roadway,” according to the Highway Patrol. “Excessive speed significantly increases stopping distance, crash severity, and the likelihood of fatal outcomes.”
