City of Fargo releases list of final candidates in name a garbage truck contest

FARGO — The City of Fargo is unveiling the list of finalists in their name a garbage truck contest.

The city asked residents for their most creative names for Fargo’s garbage trucks, and the city over 200 entries.

The Solid Waste Department, along with Deputy Mayor Denise Kolpack, the department’s liaison to the City Commission, chose 10 finalists based on creativity, originality and overall appeal.

The city says that if a name was submitted multiple times, the first entry received was considered.

The following names are finalists:

  • Trashasaurus Rex
  • Hector the Collector
  • Recyclopse
  • Landfill Lucy
  • Fargo’s Trash Bandit
  • Trashinator
  • Optimus Grime
  • Truck Norris
  • Garbage Gulper
  • Bin Diesel

Fargo residents can vote for their favorite names online at FargoND.gov/NameaGarbageTruck, until Sunday, March 15, at 11:59 p.m.

The top three names will be displayed on city garbage trucks and people who submitted winning names will get some Fargo gear and will have the chance to be featured in a video that will be shared on the city’s social media.
