MINOT, N.D. (KVRR-KFGO) – A woman who was acquitted last year of killing her roommate is now charged along with her husband of stealing over $180,000 from an archery club in Minot.

Court documents show Nichole and Dallas Rice, while they were officers in the Souris Valley Bowmen club, used the organization’s debit cards to make personal purchases between July of 2022 and July of 2025. During that time, Nichole Rice was the club’s secretary/treasurer and Dallas Rice was club president.

A Ward County investigator says the theft was discovered when a club check bounced and members reviewed bank accounts. Members confronted the Rices at a board meeting where Dallas Rice admitted to using the cards for personal expenses.

The club estimated $160,000 was missing.

Court records say Dallas Rice claimed it was all him and he would pay back the money, which he did. However, the investigator says bank records showed over $183,000 was actually spent by the Rices.

Investigators believe Nichole and Dallas Rice each used a different card for a time and then the same card after that.

The couple each face Class A felonies. Dallas Rice faces an additional Class A felony and Nichole Rice also faces a Class B felony.

Anita Knutson was stabbed to death in 2007 while attending Minot State University. Nichole Rice was arrested in 2022 and charged in the murder, but eventually acquitted. Knutson’s murder has never been solved.
