Stanley Township Residents Balk at Concrete Plant Proposal
Building a plant at the location in question would require rezoning the lot, and nearby residents worry about the way that would affect their farms and daily lives.

STANLEY TOWNSHIP, N.D. (KVRR) – Residents in Stanley Township, North Dakota, are voicing their opposition to a rezoning plan that could put a ready mix concrete plant near farms and houses.
The lot in question, near exit 54 off I-29, is currently zoned for commercial use and features the LCM Precision Milling and Turning building.
However, the landowner is allegedly trying to sell that parcel and have it rezoned for light industrial use.
That’s caught the attention of those who live nearby, who worry that things like dust, noise, and heavy concrete truck traffic will impact their way of life.
There’s always going to be promises of containment and buffers and things like that, but realistically that’s not going to solve all the problems,” said Bjørn Solberg, whose parents live on the lot directly next to the parcel in question.
Further complicating the issue is that the landowner in question is currently the chair of the Stanley Township board.
The next township board meeting is being held on Tuesday, March 17 at 8 P.M. at the Horace Fire Hall.
Solberg is circulating a petition regarding the situation, which can be read and signed here.
