Transfer Portal: NDSU and UND Men’s Basketball
Several players from the North Dakota State and North Dakota men's basketball programs have announced their intention to enter the transfer portal.
FARGO/GRAND FORKS, N.D. (KVRR) – Even though the NCAA transfer portal window does not officially open until April 7, several players from both the North Dakota State Bison and the North Dakota Fighting Hawks men’s basketball programs have already announced their intention to enter their names.
North Dakota State is set to lose multiple contributors from this past season, including junior guard Damari Wheeler-Thomas. Wheeler-Thomas started all 32 games he played during the 2025-26 season and led the Bison in scoring at 14.5 points per game. After spending four years in the program, including a redshirt season during his junior year, he earned Second Team All-Summit League honors. His departure was largely expected after he participated in NDSU’s Senior Day festivities earlier this season.
Junior forward Noah Feddersen also plans to enter the portal after another significant season for NDSU. Feddersen started 16 of the 35 games he played in 2025-26 and spent four years with the program after redshirting his freshman season. During Summit League play, he transitioned into a sixth-man role and was named the Summit League Sixth Man of the Year, averaging 10.9 points and 4.1 rebounds per game in conference action. He finished the season averaging 9.3 points and five rebounds per contest. Like Wheeler-Thomas, Feddersen’s move was not a major surprise after he was also recognized during the Bison’s Senior Day.
Sophomore forward Treyson Anderson is another Bison player expected to explore transfer options, though his decision comes as more of a surprise. Anderson started 19 of the team’s 35 games and became a full-time starter at the beginning of Summit League play. After moving into the starting lineup, he averaged 12.7 points and 5.6 rebounds per game, both ranking second on the team. For the full season, Anderson averaged 10.4 points and 5.3 rebounds per game.
At North Dakota, several players have also indicated they intend to enter the portal.
Junior forward George Natsvlishvili started 14 of 34 games during the 2025-26 season and finished second on the team in rebounding, averaging 4.9 boards per game while adding eight points per contest.
Freshman guard Anthony Smith III appeared in 34 games for UND and ranked seventh on the team in minutes per game at 17.7. He averaged 7.8 points per game while shooting 47 percent from the field.
Freshman forward Marley Curtis played in 30 games and made eight starts during the season. Curtis ranked eighth on the team in minutes at 16.6 per game and averaged six points and 3.6 rebounds.
Redshirt sophomore forward Matthew Bothun also plans to enter the portal after appearing in 20 games for the Fighting Hawks, averaging 5.1 minutes and 1.9 points per game.
With the portal window set to open in early April, both programs could see additional roster movement in the coming weeks as teams across college basketball begin reshaping their rosters for next season.
