Husband of Wild reporter who lost family in house fire issues statement

WHITE BEAR LAKE, Minn. (KFGO) – The husband of Minnesota Wild and NHL reporter Jessi Pierce has released a statement prior to Sunday public visitation for Pierce and their three children, who died in a house fire in white bear lake early last Saturday morning.

Pierce, 37, died along with the couple’s children Hudson, 8, Cayden, 6, and Avery, 4, after their home caught fire.

Mike Hinrichs, who was out of town on a work-related trip, says he’s completely devastated by the tragic loss of his family. His says their children were the light of their lives. Hinrichs also thanked the fire departments and other first responders.

A GoFundMe campaign to help Hinrichs has raised more than $220,000. NHL teams, including the Wild, have contributed to the fund.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, but it is not considered suspicious.
