Local writer brings weekly column to KFGO

FARGO (KVRR) – One of three former columnists recently laid off by Forum Communications Co. will write a weekly column for Fargo radio station KFGO-AM.
Jim Shaw says he’s looking forward to the opportunity. “My emotions are all over the place,” Shaw said.
Shaw noted that he will be given more control over his content and said he will write about local and national issues.
Shaw was recently dismissed from the Forum, along with former columnists Jack Zaleski and Joan Brickner.
The firings sparked a protest that drew dozens of demonstrators outside the Forum building in downtown Fargo Wednesday.
In a statement to KVRR, Bill Marcil Jr., the CEO of Forum Communications, said “The recent decision to let go of three of our freelance opinion columnists was strictly a business decision based on data and feedback from our readers.”
