Vitalant blood donors will soon get chance at winning $10,000 gift card

FARGO — Vitalant is getting read to hold a blood drive, and starting April 6, those who donate will have the chance to walk away with more than a cookie and some juice.
From April 6 until April 30, as part of Donate Life Month, Vitalant is offering those who donate, and join their rewards program, a chance to win one of two $10,000 prepaid gift cards, calling it the Groceries for a Year Giveaway.
Vitalant says that while all blood types are needed, they have the greatest need for type O, which is the type of blood most compatible with other blood types.
Blood supplies often run low during cold and flu season, as some of their regular donors will have to skip some chances to donate due to illness.
While it’s being called Groceries for a Year Giveaway, Vitalant says the winners will be able to buy more than groceries.
“The gift card is redeemable on a website, and so even though we’re calling it Groceries for a Year, you can cash it in for whatever you like,” said Vitalant Communications Manager Tori Robbins. “There’s different store chains that you can buy from. There’s even travel options there. So if you’re deciding you don’t want the groceries and you’d rather get away for a vacation, that’ll work with this giveaway.”
