STARK COUNTY, N.D. (KVRR) – A 54-year-old semi driver is currently recuperating from serious injuries at Sanford in Bismarck following a serious crash in Stark County.

The North Dakota Highway Patrol says that the incident occurred just before 7:00 P.M. mountain time on April 3.

The driver of a 2025 Volvo semi hauling a trailer of frozen food lost control of the vehicle while traveling eastbound on I-94, west of Gladstone.

The Volvo struck the median guardrail, traveled up onto the bridge structure, and eventually came to rest on the banks of the Green River.

The driver was transported to CHI St. Alexius Health in Dickinson and later flown to Sanford Hospital in Bismarck for treatment of those serious injuries. All lanes of I-94 were closed near Gladstone for approximately one hour following the crash.

NDHP does list snow and slush-covered road conditions as contributing factors in the crash.
