Hundreds of nonprofits tune in for first State of the State of Nonprofits

FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) — Several hundred non-profits from 32 states tuned in or attended the conference for nonprofits. The conference’s focus was to have organizations connect with one another

“I think this analog world we’re trying to lean into, which is getting in person, giving someone a hug, having a cup of coffee, seeing someone face-to-face, and asking them, ‘ Hey, are you guys okay? And it’s almost this really group therapy session on top of really learning what the next trends are in the next couple of years,” said Patrick Kirby, Founder of Do Good Better Consulting.

Speakers shared experiences working in the business as a non-profit or consulting with nonprofits. From issues they have faced to what they have learned over time. Several topics included fraud, cybersecurity, and the future forecast.

“There’s over twenty five hundred nonprofits just in the Red River Valley area here. And there’s just not enough training. So we wanted to make it affordable, we wanted to make it accessible, we wanted to make it fun and exciting and something completely different,” said Kirby.

“There are a lot of nonprofits with very similar missions, and events are expensive. So if they pull their resources, pull their ideas, pull their missions they can have a couple of events and all benefit from it,” said Deidre Hillman, Owner of 13th Hat.

While the event was the first, both organizers hope people walk away making new connections.

“It’s important that they know that there’s resources like our company out there that can become a temporary extension for their team. And help them bring their event to life,” said Hillman.

An upcoming podcast by organizer Patrick Kirby will feature the sessions from the conference.
