EAST GULL LAKE, Minn. (KVRR-KFGO) – A Twin Cities man who wants to continue using his helicopter on East Gull Lake in central Minnesota has been ordered to stop landing the helicopter on his property.

A Cass County District Court judge has agreed with with the city, ruling Doug Schieffer cannot use the helipad at his lake home. Schieffer is the CEO of a concrete company. Neighbors have complained about the noise. Schieffer argues that the water in front of his home is a public seaplane base. The state department of transportation supported the city’s position.

Schieffer has said at previous city council meetings that if the judge ruled against him, he’d appeal to the Minnesota Supreme Court.

An attorney for East Gull Lake says the city is pleased with the court decision.
