It is the last day of classes for students in the Fargo Public School District.
Kids at Centennial Elementary school strapped on skates to celebrate their last day.

KVRR Brittany Ford has the story.

Centennial Elementary 5th graders laced up their skates and glided their way out of the school year.

It is a 12 year tradition for the school’s 5th graders to go to Skateland.
It is what these soon–to–be 6th graders look forward to as say goodbye to elementary school.

“The tradition of the years that it’s been. Students kind of look forward to it hey I know at the end of 5th grade when I’m graduating I get to go to Skateland and spend that day with all my classmates and the teachers,” said 5th grader teacher Lucas Steier.

There are a lot of activities that are going on for the last day of elementary school but Centennial Elementary kids got to roller skate.

At the skate rink, students got to enjoy snacks, play video games, and participate in a limbo contest on wheels.

5th graders say they were grateful for the celebration and are leaving Centennial with a sense of pride.

“Feel special because were the only school that gets to do this,” said Isbelle Snead 5th grader at Centennial Elementary.

“It really does mean a lot to us that our school actually does care enough to give us a reward like this for doing all this work all school year,” said Colton Matheny 5th grader at Centennial Elementary.

As they blade on to the next chapter in their lives, their last day of 5th grade is a day they say they will not forget.

Other Fargo schools celebrated the last day with student talent shows, bowling, and a trip to the Chahinkapa Zoo.
Some schools had to cancel their field day celebrations because of the rain.
