Kennedy Elementary Learns About Weather & Tornado Safety

A NDSU professor teaches first grade students about weather safety.

Adnan Akyuz visited Kennedy Elementary to discuss North Dakota weather patterns, the Coriolis Effect and tornadoes.

Students learn to identify different weather phenomenons and make distinctions between the four seasons.

The weather presentation also included in the demonstration educating students about the importance of wearing a helmet when taking cover for tornadoes.

NDSU Professor Adnan Akyuz says, “These are proven when you fall out of your bicycle that it will protect your head. Everyone has it. Probably in every garage…we are trying to bring awareness that these creatures can save lives.”

Akyuz demonstrated the importance of air pressure and later created of a tornado.
