City Hall Project Delayed

City officials continue to look for ways to reduce the cost of the new Fargo City Hall.
Mayor Tim Mahoney and city commissioners consider altering parts of the current building plan to bring estimated costs down from $26 – $27–million to a possible $10–million.
They consider removing some of the conference rooms as well as changing the size of the proposed atrium.
This motion will delay the project from moving forward but one city commissioner believes this is for the better.
City Commissioner Dave Piepkorn says, “There’s so much construction going on where we’re looking to build too so that’s another concern because we’re putting in flood protection. If all those things were going on at the same time it would be a little hecktic.”
Officials predict the project will delayed by a couple of months.
