Five Local Children Find Forever Homes On National Adoption Day
Local organizations work all year long with families who are looking to adopt.
National Adoption Day was celebrated here in Fargo at Cass County Court House.
There are millions of people who are hopeful to adopt, and that dream finally came true for three local families.
“Family isn’t always blood. It’s the people in your life who want you in theirs. The ones who accept you for who you are,” said Krista Boehm.
Friends and family don’t just gather to recognize five finalized adoptions.
They celebrate the beginning of a new chapter.
“Megan and I are grateful for everyone who has helped us along with this ,especially the birth family. They have given us a gift that is truly priceless,” said Den Bolda, who has officially adopted two twin boys.
An adoptive parent herself, it’s a joy Julie Hoffman knows all too well.
“Your commitment and love will be both a blessing to your child, as well as to the community and to our state,” said Hoffman, who is from the North Dakota Dept. of Human Services.
The Boldas’ are concluding the process they started in March of 2015, one that started because of fertility problems.
“Ten days after we were chosen to adopt the twins to adopt the twins, my wife and I found out we were pregnant,so 2016 has been a wonderful year for our family,” said Den Bolda.
Kezzie shares her own story of being adopted in hopes to help those who are starting a child’s new life.
“I lived in 17 homes before finding my forever home. I was adopting in June of this year, I remember many many foster families and having problems with communication,” said Kezzie Young.
And if you’re on the same journey, they want you to know this.
“Remember, if someone is talking someone has to sit down and listen,” said Young.
“Don’t give up,” said Den Bolda.
Over 58,000 children nationwide have been adopted from foster care on National Adoption Day since its establishment 16 years ago.
