What Goes Into Making Boppa’s New “Rainbow Bagel”?

Boppa’s new rainbow bagel has been the talk of the town.

So what actually goes into putting a taste of the rainbow into a bagel?

Gary Porter of Boppa’s Bagels says it takes a little more effort than the rain and sun to make a rainbow – a rainbow bagel that it is.

Porter says the idea behind the creation came from his grandson.

“How about making rainbow bagels? I said well maybe, and he told me he says right now it’s the rage of social media you got to look into it,” said Porter.

Using their own special recipe, and a differently textured dough, Porter says the multi-colored bagel is sweeter than average plain bagel.

“We have to make six separate doughs in order to make it, and one goes on top of the other, and it’s layered and we slice ,” said Porter.

Boppa’s also has a one of kind FunFetti cream cheese that compliments the bagel’s taste.

Patience is a virtue because these special creations take almost four hours to make.

One bagel fan says it was one thing in particular that drew her in.

“The colors it’s so fun I’m from out of town it looks like something local something fun,” said Shea Elliot of Minneapolis.

She agrees that rainbow is in.

“Like Pinterest, and stuff, all the cakes and cupcakes are rainbow.  Definitely in right now.  It’s all the colors.  I’m so excited to try the bagel,” said Shea.

And the one-of-a-kind recipe didn’t disappoint.

“It’s good,” said Shea.

A rainbow flooding your taste buds with joy one bagel at time.

Boppa’s isn’t the first in the nation to create the rainbow bagel, but they are one of the first in introduce the creation to the region.
