Ellen Hopkins Needs Your Input for Nature Park Design

Parents and teachers of a Moorhead elementary seek input from the public on its design ideas for a nature park.

Ellen Hopkins Elementary School Parent and Teacher Advisory Council scheduled an open house for response on the final design.

The nature park will consist of natural elements and objects to provide an interactive and unique play space.

Some ideas include large boulders, logs, sand pits and native plants.

“This sort of space is something that we lack. There are spaces at Gooseberry Parks there are a variety of spaces. But when you ask children about parks, they think about playgrounds. Because we don’t have a lot of sort of green spaces, there are not a lot of big tall trees just hanging out,” said Heather Nesemeier of the PATC.

The park is to help children develop basic motor skills, foster individual creativity and encourage cooperative play.
