NDHP: Portion of I-29 in Fargo Closed Overnight Monday for Xcel Work

FARGO, N.D. — A portion of I-29 in Fargo will close overnight Sunday, Nov. 5 to Monday, Nov. 6 to
allow Xcel Energy to replace distribution wires to improve the reliability of electric service in the area.
Xcel Energy, the North Dakota Department of Transportation (NDDOT), and the North Dakota
Highway Patrol (NDHP) are working collaboratively to minimize the impact on motorists. Both
directions of I-29 between Main Avenue and 13th Avenue South will close at 1:00 AM and work will
stop by 6:00 AM to allow for morning rush hour traffic. The following detours will in place during the
period of closure:

• Northbound traffic on I-29: take Exit #64 onto 13th Avenue S, 13th Ave S west to 45th Street S,
45th Street S north to Main Avenue, west on Main Avenue back to I-29.

• 13th Avenue South (wanting to travel north): travel west on 13th Ave to 45th St S, north on 45th
Street S to Main Avenue, west on Main Avenue to I-29.

• Southbound traffic on Interstate 29: Use Exit # 65 on Main Avenue, Main Avenue east to
25th Street S, south on 25th Street S to I-94.

• Main Avenue (wanting to travel south on I-29): take Main Avenue to 25th St S, south on 25th
Street S to I-94.

Portions of 38th Street Southwest and 36th Street South adjacent to I-29 will also close as line workers
pull distribution wires into place across a 525-foot span. Crews will install two new 60-foot wooden
poles to the west of I-29 ahead of time to minimize traffic disruption.

North Dakota Highway Patrol will be supporting the crews involved with the road closure and
monitoring the road closure area for issues.
