No One Hurt After Fire Gutted West Fargo Townhouse Complex

WEST FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) — Multiple families are forced to leave their homes in West Fargo after a fire broke out at a townhouse complex early this morning.

Crews say they saw smoke and flames coming out of the building containing six townhomes at 237 12 1/2 Avenue East just before 4 a.m.

The first fire hydrants that crews attempted to use failed and they had to run hoses to the fire from another hydrant.

The type of construction also made the fire difficult to fight.

There are no injuries reported.

West Fargo Fire Chief Dan Fuller says all of the units had smoke alarms that were working, which is a major reason why people were able to get out in time.

“That’s the biggest takeaway. The reason we didn’t have to have over the ladder rescues or anything like that or people trapped in the building, is because they evacuated pretty early into the scene. Which is really important for us. And if they hadn’t have those working smoke alarms that wouldn’t have been that case,” said Fuller.

The cause of the fire is underdetermined at this time.
