NDSU set to face USD in FCS quarterfinals

NORTH DAKOTA STATE HAS IMPROVED SINCE THEY LAST MET SOUTH DAKOTA IN SEPTEMBER

FARGO, N.D. — The last time these teams met the Coyotes spoiled the Bison’s homecoming, handing the Herd their first loss of the season. North Dakota State fell behind 21-3 going into halftime. The Bison rallied in the second half outscoring South Dakota 16 to 3 but ultimately fell 24-19. The Bison feel they are a much better football team than they were in late September however and have learned a lot from their last meeting with USD.

“I’d like to think we’re better. We weren’t very good when we showed up that first half against them. What was it, 21 to 3? We can’t let a team get up like that, especially a good team that’s going to get into some short yardage situations, we struggled to get off the field. We got to be better on third down. We got to be better defensively and we got to be able to score points when we get into the red zone,” said Coach, Matt Entz.

“I think we’re a completely different team to be completely honest with you. I don’t think we’re the same team we were when we played them the first time in conference. I just look at the momentum we have after the Montana State game. Our track record up to this point, I think it’s really good,” said senior running back, Tamerik Williams.

“We’ve had our backs against the walls forever, it feels like and it’s no different this week. Back against the wall against a familiar opponent. We’re just going to do everything we can to go 1-0 again. It doesn’t matter what it looks like on Saturday as long as like coach said if it’s a one point win, it’s a win,” said senior safety, Cole Wisnewski.

The Bison and the Coyotes will play Saturday, December 9th
