Kindred Boys Basketball Two Wins Away From Undefeated Regular Season

Kindred Basketball is 19-0

KINDRED, N.D. (KVRR)– The Kindred Vikings are just two wins away from capping off a perfect regular season. With the post season just around the corner, the Vikings look to stay humble and finish strong. Players and coaches spoke with Sports Director, Adam Chalifoux about what has gone into their year success so far.

“We just have great have you know, great players across the board, even going into our bench. Anyone on our team can start. You know, it’s great haveing a good group of guys like this and we all rely on each other to make big plays when a big play need to be made and anyone can do it on the team and that’s where our success comes from.”

At 19-0 so far this season, the Kindred Vikings success is no secret. With 6 players standing 6-foot-3 or taller, skilled shooters, and athleticism the team creates a matchup nightmare for opponents. The Blue and White’s blue collar mentality starts on the defensive end.

“It’s hard to even get a pass around these guys sometimes. I mean, if it’s getting tipped it’s getting dunked. You gotta get that pass around. We just play with intensity on defense, I mean that’s what coach preaches. Defense, defense, defense, and we just buy into it.”

On offense a selfless style of play and collective trust allows any player to stuff the stat sheet on any given night.

“It’s been our balanced scoring and our unselfish play. We got four guys currently that are averaging double figures. We’re averaging a little over 15 assists a game. So we’re certainly sharing the basketball which we like to see.”

“We just got a bunch of playmakers and everyone accepts their role and one game we could have one guy go off and the next it could be a different guy so I think we’re very versatile in that way in that we take what we are given in our matchups. ”

With tournament season just around the corner the team embraces humility and a one game at a time approach.

“Enjoy the journey along the way. You know it’s tough to go undefeated throughout the course of a season and we know once tournaments come around everybody’s record is 0 and 0 so they’re prepared, we kind of have embraced the fact that we have a target on our back and they’ve handled it very, very well.”

“I never have to talk about effort or work harder. They just come to practice and work hard every day and they are very goal orientated. They have bigger goals than just winning the region.”
