Polasek Brings Fresh Energy to Spring Practice

North Dakota State Football Holds First Spring Practice of 2024

FARGO, N.D. — The Bison were already on the field and hard at work well before the sun rose Tuesday morning. New Head Coach Tim Polasek emphasized tempo, toughness, and tackling as he looks to lay the foundation for a team looking to return to national championship form. Polasek’s practice moved quickly and so did he as he spent time with each position group. Members of the team talked about returning to the turf under new leadership after practice wrapped up.

“Very high energy; tries to motivate us a ton and he’s all about working hard and trying to get better each and every day so coming out here and getting to see him frist day and see the energy he’s bringing to the offensive side which is a little different from Coach Entz, mainly working with the defense has been great,” said junior wide receiver, Eli Green.

“You saw it today. We’re all running around between periods. There’s no wasted time out here and we’re competing,” said senior linebacker, Luke Weerts.

“I want to knock down tasks extremely quick and move on. I want to give these guys a chance at having a great social life. I want to give these guys a chance at being great accademically; meaning this, you’re not going to see me out there talking to the group for more than thirty seconds to a minute… We’re going to knock practice down. We’re going to move on to to the next task. We’re going to try to be great great finishers with everything and then we will pick it back up. I’ve always believed that kids have hard time listening after a two hour practice,” said Polasek.
