Vehicle Bursts Into Flames During High-Speed Chase Through Three Counties, Suspect Eventually Caught

RICHLAND CO. N.D. (KVRR/KFGO) — There is not much left of a vehicle involved in a high-speed chase through three counties before it was abandoned and started on fire, igniting a grass fire in Richland County.

The chase involving 43-year-old Mark Crompton started around 5 p.m. Wednesday near Felton, Minnesota.

He led officers through Clay, Cass and Richland Counties before getting stuck in a field.

Crompton fled on foot.

A female passenger was detained and eventually released.

A ground and drone search found Crompton around 8 p.m. in a motorhome in Walcott.

He was arrested on warrants in three counties and faces charges for the pursuit, property damage, and trespass to a motor vehicle.
