Kids show off their animals at Norman County Fair

ADA, MINN. (KVRR) — Many people come to the Norman County Fair for the food and rides but for some farm families, it’s all about the animals.

Many local kids brought the animals that they have been raising to the competitions at the fair.

J.P. Babolian raises horses in his family, and took home some awards with his horse.

“Make sure they are clean, and we have food and water to give them here.”

He says that while it can be a lot of work, raising these horses is also a lot of fun.

“When you go to a show, you could like ride and have fun with the horse.”

And he adds that the recognition of his hard work is great too.

“Kind of happy, because you know that you did a good job.”

J.P.’s mom Becca says that having the horses and other animals on the farm has always helped her boys. And for JP, it’s not just about the horses, he also loves the chickens.

The Babolian family also raise bees, in addition to their horses, chickens and pigs. They were awarded the Norman County Farm Family of the Year for 2024.
