Nicolae Miu Gets 20 Years For Deadly River Stabbing in Wisconsin

ST. CROIX CO., WI — Nicolae Miu, who was found guilty in April of stabbing several people including one fatally on the Apple River in St. Croix County, Wisconsin, is sentenced to 20 years in prison.
The 54-year-old Miu of Prior Lake faced up to 97 years in prison after he was charged and convicted of first-degree reckless homicide in the killing of Isaac Schuman of Stillwater.
He was also convicted on four counts of recklessly endangering safety and one count of battery.
Video captured from the July 30, 2022 incident showed Miu claiming to be searching for a lost cellphone as he approached a group of young tubers.
They began yelling at Miu and accusing him of “looking for little girls.”
The video goes on to show portions of the attack.
Miu read a statement in court before sentencing.
“I would like to start by letting you know how deeply sorry I have been, I am and I will always be for the real fact that Isaac is not with you anymore.”
Miu’s attorneys argued that he acted in self-defense.
