Fargo Public Library Partners with UND to Provide Radon Testing Kits
FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) — Fargo Public Library is now offering radon testing kits to check out at any library location.
They have thirty reusable kits available.
It’s thanks to a partnership with UND Connect.
It is reported that North Dakota has 63% of homes with an elevated radon level above the EPA Action Level of 4.0, leading to higher risks for lung cancer.
The devices are easy to use and will determine if homes contain unsafe levels of radon.
“It’s an invincible and odorless gas so really the only way to be able to to be able to detect something like radon is with one of these kits. And so for us to have them at the library means that everyone can have access to them without having to pay for the kit. And so they are able to check for radon in their home without having any costs to check for it,” said Jenilee Kanenwisher, Collection Development Manager.
Each kit contains instructions on how to use the device and what you can do if high levels of radon are detected.
