Fargo’s 17th Avenue South Project set to start in 2027

FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) — Plans are in the works to rebuild a large portion of 17th Avenue South between University Drive and 25th Street in Fargo.

The project would include new water mains, sewers, concrete, lighting, and shared-use paths.

“It’s a full roadway reconstruction, so taking up the pavement and redoing the concrete pavement along with some underground utilities,” said Dylan Dunn, Moore Engineering Project Engineer.

The reason the city proposed this project is because of the deterioration of the pavement. As well as the other main concern is for the water main possibly breaking.

The final design for the project would be finished by next summer and construction would start in 2027.

“We’re trying to phase it and stage it so that it’s the least amount of impact while still getting the work done,” said Dunn.

While the price of the project is still not determined, the current estimate is around $17 million.

“The city applied was awarded a nice healthy grant through the Fargo Moorhead Metro COG, so it’s a great opportunity to use the funding at this time,” said Dunn.

While there are concerns over access to homes and schools, designers are still working on making sure that the project will run quickly and smoothly for everyone.

If you have any concerns or questions regarding the project, you can send an email to Dylan.Dunn@mooreengineeringinc.com with “Public Input Meeting – PCN 24237” in the subject line or mail to 925 10th Ave E West Fargo. Any comments or questions must be sent no later than October 4th.
