No. 7 North Dakota Hosts No. 3 Boston University in Top-10 Showdown
THE RALPH WILL HOST A TOP-10 SHOWDOWN THIS WEEKEND AS NUMBER 7 NORTH DAKOTA BATTLES NUMBER 3 BOSTON UNIVERSITY.
GRAND FORKS, N.D. (KVRR) – Coming off a weekend split to Minnesota State, North Dakota hockey is now ranked number 7 in the most recent USCHO poll. After opening the season against two ranked opponents, the tough schedule continues as they prepare to host number three Boston University at the Ralph Engelstad Arena this weekend.
North Dakota defeated Minnesota State Friday nigh in comeback fashion before falling Saturday night 3-0. Sitting at 2-1 on the year and going up against a 3-0 Boston U team that made the Frozen Four a year ago, NoDak knows they could not dwell on Saturday’s result as they are right back to work this weekend.
“We learned from it,” said head coach Brad Berry. “We did a review meeting on Monday on the good things we did and the things that we need to clean up and work on. And we do need to work on a few things that we did this past week and we’ll continue to do that. But it’s turning the page and knowing that, hey, we got to continue to build and grow our group here. Our guys are coming together here and they’re going to continue to build and grow.”
Boston U has a ton of talent across the board and North Dakota knows they’ll need to be ready to go in order to get the results they want. But like every weekend, this team goes into the series focused on themselves and playing their brand of hockey.
“It’s a good team… we know that,” said fifth year forward and captain Louis Jamernik V. “We kind of have the mentality of a faceless opponent. It doesn’t matter who we’re playing every weekend. We need to do what we need to do. That’s all we need to focus on is playing hard, playing fast, playing to our identity. And when we do that, that’s when we have success.”
This top 10 showdown between North Dakota and Boston University will have a 7:07 P.M. puck drop Friday night. On Saturday, they’ll get going at 6:07 P.M. at the Ralph Engelstad Arena.
These two teams split their weekend series a season ago in Boston.
- Boston won the Friday night game 3-2.
- North Dakota won the Saturday night game, in Overtime, 5-4.
