6 injured after propane explosion near Bagley

BAGLEY, Minn. (KVRR-KFGO) – A man and five children were injured in an explosion and fire at a storage unit north of Bagley in northern Minnesota at about 12:30 p.m. Monday.

Clearwater County Sheriff Darin Halverson says people passing by stopped to help. He says the investigation determined that the explosion was triggered when the man lit a cigarette after opening the door to the storage unit. Halverson says a propane tank inside the metal building was leaking.

Deputies, Bagley Police and Fire and Sanford-Bagley ambulance responded and other ambulances from the surrounding area also went to the scene. The man and the children, between the ages of 6 to 14, were all suffering from burns. They were transferred to various hospitals and their conditions have not been released.
