Fargo police officer arrested for DUI, placed on leave pending investigation

FARGO (KVRR) – A Fargo police officer is on paid administrative leave after being arrested for driving under the influence and other charges.

Thirty-three-year-old Brandon Rittenour was arrested for DUI Actual Physical Control and DUI Refusal. He was also cited for failure to provide proof of insurance and received a warning for care required.

Police received a call regarding a crash involving multiple vehicles at 2:10 a.m. Monday in the 1100-block of 42nd Street South. Police say a single-occupant vehicle made contact with three other unoccupied vehicles and a dumpster at an apartment complex parking lot.

Once on scene, police became aware that Rittenour, who was off-duty at the time, was the suspect.

Police say due to jail capacity issues, Rittenour was released after signing a promise to appear in Cass County District Court.

Rittenour began his employment with Fargo police in January, 2024 and is currently assigned as a patrol officer in the Neighborhood Services Division.
