Mac Swanson and NoDak prep for Colorado College with 10 Games Remaining in Regular Season

FRESHMAN FORWARD MAC SWANSON SET FOR HIS FIRST SERIES VS. HIS DAD'S ALMA MATTER.

GRAND FORKS, N.D. (KVRR) –After a five-point weekend in St. Cloud last weekend, #16 North Dakota (13-10-2, 8-5-1)  returns to the Ralph this weekend to host #20 Colorado College (13-12-1, 7-8-1). While it’s a big series for positioning in the NCHC standings, it’s also a big series for freshman forward Mac Swanson for a more sentimental reason.

Swanson’s dad, Brian, played at CC from 1995-99. For Mack, as a freshman so far this season, he owns 14 points and is looking forward to his first battle with his dad’s alma mater.

“Yeah, I mean, I had a lot of T-shirts and hats and stuff just for my dad playing there,” said Swanson. “But I think those are all thrown away now. I talked to him on Sunday about it, kind of joking a little bit, what team he’s going to root for, but I think he’s kind of rooting for UND still. He won’t be here this weekend, but I’m sure he’ll be watching the games at home.”

A year ago when CC came to the Grand Forks, offense was hard to come by, falling 3-2 in overtime both nights. A big emphasis for NoDak this weekend will be sticking with the game plan through any offensive troubles.

Just 10 games remain in the regular season for UND and they enter the weekend holding onto the 4th spot in the NCHC standings. The top four teams host the first round of the NCHC playoffs.

Puck drop Friday night is set for 7:07 P.M. and at 6:07 P.M. Friday night at the Ralph Engelstad Arena.
