Scheels teams up with veterans to offer free flag exchange
FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) — In one week, people will be able to exchange their old U.S. flags for a brand new one free of charge.
Scheels Home and Hardware is teaming up with the Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association for a flag exchange starting Thursday, June 12.
People will be able to take their old and worn out flags and exchange them for free.
Motorcycle enthusiasts are also encouraged to join the CVMA as they travel to Scheels locations across the state as they continue the flag exchange.
The exchange begins Thursday at the Scheels Home and Hardware in Fargo.
“It’ll be from here to the Grand Forks Scheels and then we’re going to the Minot Scheels and we’re going to stay overnight there, right next to Scheels. And then, in the morning, we’re going to start exchanging flags, then we’re off to Bismarck,” said CVMA Public Relations Officer Tom Krabbenhoft.
“It’s just a really cool way to, like you said, bring together (a) veteran organization and the retail space. And we can provide flags and have some fun on the motorcycle ride along the way,” said Ashley Wait, marketing leader for Scheels Home and Hardware.
On Friday, they will be riding to Scheels locations in Minot and Bismarck. That Saturday, they will return to Scheels Home and Hardware in Fargo for a flag retirement ceremony.
