Senator Hoeven, Mayor Mahoney speak at Fargo VFW on planned improvements for Fargo National Cemetery
FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) — Senator John Hoeven announces he has secured an agreement in principle for the planned improvements of Fargo National Cemetery.
Hoeven held a press event with Fargo Mayor Tim Mahoney and members of the Fargo Memorial Honor Guard.
Improvements include a more parking, a welcome center, and an indoor bathrooms.
State funding for the improvements was approved during the last legislative session, and will be used in conjunction with Federal dollars and private donations.
Hoeven says that the combination of state, federal, and private dollars is key to the project getting off the ground.
“This, again, a unique, one-of-a-kind partnership. And the greater Fargo area is remarkable in our ability to put these partnerships together,” Hoeven said. “You’ve got federal funding. The Federal VA, you’ve got private funding. All Those things coming together so we’re good to go.”
Hoeven says they hope to hold a ground breaking ceremony for the improvements this fall.
