Cass County Finance Director to Resign

It's possible that Madrigga saw no way forward in her role following an executive order from President Trump.

CASS COUNTY, N.D. – The finance director of Cass County – and head of their election team – has announced that she’s resigning from the role.

Brandy Madrigga has served in this position since 2021 and overseen two primary and general elections.

However, she is a Canadian citizen, and President Trump recently signed an executive order that prohibits any non-US-citizen from overseeing any portion of a federal election.

Cass County officials say that Madrigga has the “appropriate authorization to live and work in North Dakota.”

She has not issued any public comment on her resignation, and the county said they were not expecting her to resign.

Madrigga will be staying on through July 31 to help the county transition through this move.

She submitted her resignation near the end of June.
