Cass County Sheriff’s Office fires deputy over alleged assault of inmate

Andrew Robinson

Fargo, N.D. (KVRR) — The Cass County Sheriff’s Office has fired Deputy Andrew Robinson after the criminal investigation into the alleged assault of an inmate was completed by the North Dakota Bureau of Criminal Investigation.

The Cass County Sheriff’s Office also completed an internal investigation into the incident, and after reviewing the reports, Sheriff Jesse Jahner decided to terminate Deputy Robinson’s employment.

“Our citizens expect our office to be transparent, professional at all times, and accountable for our actions, something we work hard to achieve every day as we go out and serve our community. Deputy Robinson’s actions did not align with our expectations in this circumstance, and therefore, his employment with our Office has been terminated. I want to thank the North Dakota Bureau of Criminal Investigation for their thorough and professional investigation into this incident,” Jahner said.

The criminal case against Robinson has been referred to the Cass County State’s Attorney’s Office.
