Walsh County Sheriff releases name of inmate who died after medical emergency

GRAFTON, N.D. (KVRR) — Walsh County Sheriff say the inmate that died in custody is the man accused of setting fire inside a home and cutting gas lines.

The inmate is identified as 39-year-old Patrick Aune, of Park River.

He was jailed in Walsh County on Saturday for arson, contact by bodily fluids, criminal mischief, preventing arrest and reckless endangerment.

Shortly after 10:30 a.m. Sunday, correctional officers noticed Aune suffering a medical emergency.

Walsh County Paramedic and Valley Ambulance and Rescue Service were called to the jail to assist.

The sheriff’s office says all attempts to save the his life were unsuccessful.

No further information is being released due to the ongoing investigation by the North Dakota Bureau of Criminal Investigation and the North Dakota Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation.
