The Caring Foundation partners with BIO Girls to reduce mental health stigma

FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) — Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Dakota Caring Foundation is once again teaming up with the Fargo Force to battle mental health stigma with Shut Out the Stigma.
The statewide initiative is focused on reducing mental health stigma and expanding access to resources.
Around 46 percent of North Dakotans live in areas with limited access to mental health providers.
On a national level, there has been an increase in major depressive disorders among teens aged 15-17.
The foundation will be donating funds to BIO Girls, a non-profit that mentors girls from second to sixth grade to navigate their well-being and confidence.
“We know that mental health is crucial to today’s society, it’s such a fast-paced society. And just really excited to be able to let people know that it’s okay to not be okay and that there’s resources and tools available for them,” said Amber Blomberg, Executive Director of Caring Foundation at Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Dakota.
The Caring Foundation will be hosting a Shut out the Stigma night on March 6 at 7 p.m. at Scheels Arena.
