FARGO (KVRR-KFGO) – A propane heater in a camper was the cause of a fire earlier this month that heavily damaged or destroyed several storage garages in south Fargo.

Fire Marshal Ryan Erickson says the fire started in a pop-up camper with a propane heater that someone was working on. Erickson says the person told investigators they were getting ready for a trip.

About a dozen storage units and property inside was damaged or lost. The damage estimate is $300,000.

The March 10 fire, at Bison State Storage, was at 1001 23rd Street S.

Smoke from the blaze could be seen across the metro.
