MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. — Minnesota State Patrol welcomes 38 new recruits in a swearing in ceremony held at University of Minnesota in Minneapolis.

The new batch of recruits just completed their training at Camp Ripley, near Little Falls, Minnesota.

They were trained in crash investigations, traffic law, scenario-based de-escalation, mental health crisis response, and defensive tactics.

The cadets will also have additional training at the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension before beginning field training and then solo patrols.

Captain Eric Barthel, with the Minnesota State Patrol, spoke to the new graduates about the importance of the badge and what it represents.

“Take pride in that badge you wear,” Barthel said. “Respect the authority it represents, and never forget the trust the people of Minnesota place in each of you everyday.”
