Chamber of Commerce program offers training for tech jobs

FARGO — Fargo Moorhead West Fargo Chamber of Commerce is looking to give people the opportunity to get training in high-paying, tech-related jobs.

“Good Jobs Challenge” is funded by a nearly 10 million dollar grant from the U.S. Economic Development Administration.

It’s for training in fields including advanced manufacturing, cybersecurity/information technology, and precision agriculture.

Students could qualify for up to $5,000 in tuition support.

The chamber says the goal of the program is to support economic growth across North Dakota and Minnesota.

“We will be seeking additional opportunities not only to continue that framework of enhanced communication, collaboration, and convening, but in addition to making sure that we’re able to respond to that need in our community through providing not only financial, but support resources to those looking to upscale in a variety of different careers and pathways,” said Jane Vangsness with the FMWF Chamber.

So far they’ve given the grant to around 570 people. Their goal is to reach over 900 by September 30.
