Second arrest made in Cass County Jail drug trafficking investigation

FARGO (KVRR) – A two-year investigation into drug trafficking in the Cass County Jail has resulted in a second arrest.
In October of 2024, a warrant was issued for 34-year-old Daria Renville. Renville was arrested in South Dakota on May 13, 2026, and transferred to the Cass County Jail.
The investigation began after information was received indicating that the controlled substance was attempting to be introduced into the jail through the inmate mail system. A Cass County deputy assigned to the United States Postal Inspection Service (USPIS) conducted a lengthy investigation into the allegations.
In November of 2024, 32-year-old Amar Kovacevic pleaded guilty to Conspiracy to Deliver or Possess with Intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance in a Correctional Facility.
Amar was sentenced to the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation to a term of ten (10) years, first must serve forty (40) days, followed by a period of probation.
