Fargo man arrested in stolen vehicle case after several escape attempts

FARGO, N.D. (KFGO/KVRR) – A Fargo man is in jail after a series of pursuits involving a stolen vehicle.

Police say Johnathan Ortiz, 27, escaped from officers multiple times over two days, attempting to run an undercover officer off the road, driving toward a squad car, and later ramming multiple squad cars while trying to escape.

The pursuit ended at 12:46 Friday morning when the vehicle became disabled and Ortiz escaped on foot.

Ortiz is facing charges for fleeing in a motor vehicle, theft, reckless endangerment, and felony criminal mischief.

Police say no officers were injured, but multiple squad cars were damaged.
