Music Lessons Elevated

Elevate School of Rock takes music lessons to the next level. KVRR’s Sarah Brechbill shows us how.
Music has been a part of Bryce Niemiller’s life since he can remember.
“All I ever have done is music; touring, cd on iTunes, just everything is music but why don’t I like music lessons? So I’m like something has got to change, if I’m going to be a teacher now what can we do to impact kids in a different way?” says Bryce Niemiller, owner of Elevate Rock School.
The Answer? Elevate Rock School, where students learn the fundamentals of music and get to rock out.
“The band experience is a whole different world. There’s just all these other things that they would never learn, just in the traditional lessons,” says Niemiller
Carter is a vocal student at Elevate.
“I’m used to performing in my bedroom,” says 12-year-old Carter Gill.
But now he gets his own personal rock room.
“I was very anxious at first because I don’t know if my voice is going to crack or if I’m going to forget the words all of which happened on stage,” says Gill.
Students around the same and ability are scheduled together, so when their personal music lessons are finished the band is there and ready to rock.
“The band experience is a whole different world. There’s just all these other things that they would never learn, just in the traditional lessons.”
“It’s like taking one–on–one basketball instructions, shooting free throws all day or scrimmaging or having a game. A game is way more fun.”
A game where everyone gets to be a star. Sarah Brechbill, KVRR news.
Elevate members have a half hour lesson per week. The monthly lesson fee is $140 a month.
