Construction workers are piecing together the final touches at Legacy Elementary.
The school located at 5150 9th St. in West Fargo will house 400 new students.
The city has turned what was once a farm fielding into a state of the art elementary school.
“Very Exciting to see a brand new facility that didn’t exist a year ago, and neighborhoods around up and around it, and children and families coming here excited to open a new school,” said West Fargo Superintendent David Flowers.
The facility was themed with nature in mind. Spaces throughout the school feature different pattern schemes of birds, and trees.
Healthy lifestyle habits and classroom convenience were also big factors in the schools design.
One unique and innovative learning resource that the school features is writable desktops.
Students will have the option to sit or stand at their desks to help good posture.
Legacy Elementary school is focused on educating kids with the confidence to live up to the school’s name.
“We’re trying to really push things like building to that whole child about leadership. We want kids leaving here as leaders and ready to go into the world,” said Jason Markusen Principal at Legacy Elementary.
West Fargo is called the ‘city on the grow’ and the school district is also.
Superintendent Flowers says it won’t be long before the school will hit its 540 capacity.
The first day of school at Legacy is Tuesday August 25th.
