Sanford has reached a milestone in building its nearly $500 million hospital in Fargo.

The final exterior panels were put into place for the Sanford Medical Center off of I–94 in Fargo.

The panel has the cross in the “O” of the Sanford logo called the Lorraine Cross.

For the $494 million project, material used called precast panels for the outside of the center has sped up construction along with saving money.

Work on the interior of the building is now underway.

Sanford VP of Facility Planning Don Marty said, “One area in the lower level we already have dry walled installed and it’s taped and already painting. So we were really able to get a jump on finishing the interior by using the precast panels up and get them up and enclosing the building quickly.”

The project remains on schedule and budget.

The first patients are planned to be seen fall of 2017.
