North Dakota Gets First Formal Governor Race Announcement

A Bismarck state representative is the first candidate to formally announce that he is running for governor of North Dakota.
Becker: “I will also demand much, much needed accountability from our higher education system. I want to be North Dakota’s next governor to leave better policies in place for our children and grandchildren.”
Republican Rick Becker made his announcement on YouTube.
Becker has planned a campaign rally October 28 at The Luft, a Bismarck bar he owns.
Attorney General Wayne Stenehjem has set up a campaign fundraising committee but hasn’t announced his intentions.
Others looking at the race include Republican Senator Tom Campbell of Grafton and State Treasurer Kelly Schmidt.
The 2016 Governor’s race is wide open after Republican Governor Jack Dalrymple announced he wouldn’t seek another term.
