Senate Confirms Kevin Melicher

A Board of Higher Education temporary member is confirmed, against a committees’ recommendation.

The state Senate voting 27 to 18 to confirm Kevin Melicher, a Fargo optometrist.

A five-member Senate committee had earlier voted 3 to 2 against approving Melicher for the board.

Some members weren’t satisfied with his answers for the future direction of the board.

The position of chair is still open after Kirsten Diederich resigned to avoid re-confirmation politics.
