Third Annual Suicide Prevention Summit focuses on supporting each other and prevention

FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) — Cass Clay Suicide Prevention Coalition brought together professionals and members of the public for its 3rd Annual Suicide Prevention Summit.
The summit brought together more than one hundred participants from both North Dakota and Minnesota.
The focus included topics such as prevention, childhood trauma, peer support, and supporting survivors of suicide loss.
While the focus was primarily on both youth and adults, the coalition wants people to take these skills to help the elderly.
“The thing we have to maybe remember for adults is if they don’t learn good coping skills when you’re a child, you don’t magically get them when you become an adult. And you don’t magically get them even more when you become an older adult. Life still has transitions and is still hard regardless at what age you’re at,” said Abby Lange, Director of Health Promotion at Fargo Cass Public Health.
If you are in need of support you can call 988 or North Dakota Health and Human Services Behavioral Health Division.
